Orthotics are corrective devices worn in shoes to support, align, prevent or improve deformities and functions of the foot and lower limb. The Waitakere Foot Podiatrists are specially trained to perform biomechanical assessments and prescribe orthotics that suit your individual needs. Orthotics come in a range of types from full length to ¾ length, off the shelf or custom made specifically for you.
Orthotics are used to help the muscles, tendons and bones of the foot and lower limb to function at their highest potential. Correctly fitted orthotics will realign your feet and ankle bones to their neutral position, correct abnormalities from injury or overuse, and help alleviate painful symptoms not only in the feet, but in other parts of the body, such as knee, shin, heel, and lower back pain.
We are the experts! Our Podiatrists are highly trained and experienced to prescribe custom orthotics for individual needs. Waitakere Foot is the one stop shop providing largest range of orthotics in West Auckland and work with the largest podiatry orthotic lab in New Zealand, Ganley Orthotics. 100% Satisfaction guaranteed!
Waitakere Foot orthotics range in price depending on the type and complexity of modification you need. Our Podiatrists perform a full biomechanical assessment, including gait analysis, musculoskeletal tests, footwear check and finally, foot imprints or casts. This thorough analysis allows the Podiatrist to gain an accurate diagnosis of your problem and prescribe the best orthotic option for you.
In some cases, orthotics may be fully subsidised under ACC, depending on the type of injury. Our Podiatrists can help you with this process.
Initial Visit – Podiatrist performs a full biomechanical assessment. This may include gait analysis, musculoskeletal tests, footwear check and foot imprints or casts. Your Podiatrist will then prescribe appropriate orthotics for your feet.
Orthotics Fitting Session – Depending on the type of orthotic, it may take up to approx. 2 weeks for your pair to be ready. Once they have arrived in the clinic, someone will contact you to book a Fitting Session where the Podiatrist will ensure the orthotics fit correctly in your shoes.
Orthotic Review Session – After a few weeks of wearing your orthotics, we will get you back in for a Review Session. Your Podiatrist will check your orthotics, making sure they are worn correctly, and see if they need any further adjustments. Any further adjustments of orthotics are provided at no extra cost.
